“When we moved from Upstate New York to North Carolina in 2025 we found a congenial community with exceptional neighbors.  One such neighbor couple, that we happened to meet, were Dick Sheremeta and his lovely wife Dody. When we moved we brought along a large thick oval of beveled glass that had once been on a bamboo coffee table. We had kept it for some future undecided project.Dick has an impressive woodworking shop at his home. He has a keen talent for creating bespoke works of artistic wood furniture. Once we saw the stunning furniture Dick created for their own home, choosing to work with him on a coffee table project to use the glass was a no-brainer.An extensive on-line search of table bases did not yield anything suitably stylish or sturdy enough to support the 30+ pound weight of the glass piece. We found one design that was somewhat close, but it was made of composite and looked common.  We showed that design and some others to Dick.We conferred with Dick to begin the creative process to complete the project.  He asked which room we intended for the proposed piece, what type of wood and finish, size and height preferred. He left nothing to chance or any misinterpretation. He went to work sending us ideas and suggestions. Through a collaboration Dick refined our vague ideas with his creative vision.  He modified the final proposed design to be not only supportive but also aesthetically pleasing. He is truly an artisan with an intuitive sense of style and years of engineering expertise.The result is a beautiful base for the legacy tabletop that has become a stylish coffee table gracing our formal living room.
